Pre-School Practitioner. My interest in young people and how to stimulate them began when I visited a Romanian orphanage in 1993. I gained a Montessori International Pre-Primary Teaching Diploma in 1996 and have worked in Early Years settings ever since. I have 2 sons aged 17 and 7 and love seeing young children grow in confidence and ability. I am enjoying being part of the team at Codicote Pre-School.
It was becoming a Mum that sparked my interest in working within the early year’s sector. Over the past 14 years I have been a volunteer in many different settings from toddler group through to Infant school. In 2011 I achieved my Diploma level 3 – Children & Young Peoples Workforce qualification whilst working as a key worker in a pre-school setting. I have been a part of Codicote Pre-school since April 2015 and absolutely love it. I find it very rewarding to see a child flourish and become more confident from the time they start, to the time they go up to nursery and it is nice to be able to see things from a parent’s perspective as well as a professional one.
I live in Codicote and I have two boys who both attended Codicote Preschool. My career in childcare began when my youngest son was three and I helped out during his time here Once he went on to Nursery I stayed on at Pre-school, going to college to obtain my level 2 & 3 qualifications. I have now (2017) been working here for nine years.
I am a mum of two boys and I first started working within early years when I became a lunchtime supervisor back in 2004 at my first son’s infant school when he was 5. I enjoyed working around my son and with young children and so helped out in the classroom activities and trips, I worked here for 4 years then moved on to start work in a Hitchin Pre-school in 2008 where I stayed for 9 years, it was here that I completed my Cache level 2 NVQ in children’s care in 2009, and then completed my CACHE level 3 Diploma for Children in 2015. I then moved on to work closer to my new home at Codicote Pre-school in February 2017.
I have worked at Codicote Pre – School for the last four years. I work 1 day a week and cover when needed. I worked at Codicote Playgroup as it used to be called, from June 1993 Until December 2000 as Assistant Leader & Special Helper. I then worked at Codicote C of E Primary School, first as a volunteer then a member of Staff. I have A Diploma in Child Development and Early Years N.V.Q level 3.
I left my successful career as a Materials Test Engineer for Airbus Defence and Space, when my son came along. During my maternity leave I became involved in the local toddlers group and I then began volunteering at Tenterfield Children’s Centre. Whilst there I studied for, and achieved my Cache level 2, Children and Young People’s Workforce certificate. I moved to Codicote Preschool in 2013 and began studying for my Cache level 3 certificate, which I passed in October of that year.
I enjoy the role I play in the lives of the children in my care and take great pleasure in helping them grow and develop as individuals to reach their full potential.
I have my NNEB, Advanced Diploma in Childcare and Education Level 4 and Level 3 in Leadership. I am a mum of two girls and both have attended the pre-school.
I have been working with children from birth to 11 years for over 20 years in a variety of settings including Day Care and Schools. I started working at Codicote Pre-School in September 2010.
My passion for working with children started at a very early age when I began babysitting for friends. I gained my NNEB qualification in 1988 and have worked in Early Years ever since, first as a nanny and then as a practitioner in a school setting. My career as a nanny lasted 15 years working with children from birth up until secondary school age. I then worked at Sherrardswood School in the nursery, where I undertook my Foundation Degree in Early Years (Level 5) for 7 years. In April 2010 I took over Leadership of Codicote Pre-School and then gained my BA Hons in Early Years Education (Level 6).
